Here's all my fanfiction so far, save a couple of anonfics.

For One Piece, I've gathered them into shorter gen fics (under 1000 words), longer gen fics, and shippy fics regardless of length (though most are quite brief). Pairings with two fics or more get its own subsection, while the other shippy fics are collected under "Other pairings". The gen fics are in chronological order within each section, except for some chaos fills and my longest fic by far which are at the bottom. The shippy fics are in alphabetical order.

Note: It's not always easy to determine if something is gen or shippy. I've decided to largely err on the side of gen here for most iffy cases, but please note what the brief description says for those that have possible pairing subtext.
Unrequited feelings - or fics where you don't know for sure if it's mutual or not - still go under the pairing in question.

The non-One Piece fics are so few that I haven't made any kind of internal ordering.

The links here mostly go to Livejournal entries, but I also have reposted most of them to ffnet and to Archive of Our Own (AO3) as well. My ffnet account can be found here and my AO3 page here.

If you see any error here, I'd be very grateful if you point it out to me.

Made a rec list of One Piece fics for my own convenience, though I'm afraid there's still plenty of good fics not on it. More on this behind the cut.

If you see anything off about this - if I fouled up a link, or you think the summary doesn't fit the fic (esp. if you wrote the fic), please let me know! Note: This will be continually updated.

I saw a prompt online saying "Write 100 words of huddling for warmth", and while 'pure' 100-word drabbles are hard for me to do, I decided to join in. Not so much as making a real story, just writing 100 words and then stopping.

Then I sent it to [personal profile] tonko, and she replied back with 100 words of huddling for warmth on her own. Mine had been intended as shippy, (Luffy/Usopp), hers was gen, with Zoro and Chopper and also Sanji to the rescue.

I replied with Ace/Smoker, and she with Paulie/Kaya. And by that point I knew I wanted to post them. Tonko gave her permission, so here they are!

Now - I might just write more on this theme and if so I'll post it as a comment. But I'd also like to say that it's utterly cool if anyone else should want to join in with this fun little exercise in the comments!! I only ask you to please use spoiler warnings if you use new characters or events from the current One Piece manga arc. Other canons are welcome too, of course.

Title: Don't Take The Fall Alone (Part One)
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Zoro/Sanji/Usopp a.k.a the Red Shirt Trio
Spoilers/setting: Set after Thriller Bark and before Sabaody
Summary: After leaving Thriller Bark, Usopp, Sanji and Zoro are all troubled for varied reasons. Usopp proves quite perceptive in some respects, less so in others.

AUTHOR'S NOTES: Written for Martianico within the exchange seeing-color and first posted to the AO3 collection for that exchange. All my thanks to my wonderful beta [personal profile] tonko, who worked hard on this story and who came up with the title, too. But the responsibility for any remaining errors are mine alone. Nitpicks are very welcome, and so is feedback in general!

DISCLAIMER: The characters and situations of One Piece are owned by their creator, Eiichiro Oda. They are used here without permission. This fic may not be used for profit and should not be reposted elsewhere without the writer's approval.

Hullo! Sorry about my scarcity. I come bearing not one, but two recommendations! One for a recently concluded webcomic, one for ongoing One Piece meta.

The first one, I thought I had raved about before, but if so I didn't tag it properly, because I can't find that now. "The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ And Amal" is a webcomic be E.L. Weaver which concluded about a month or so ago. It's a bit of a coming-out gay road movie with a strong slice-of-life-ish atmosphere, full of realistic-feeling observations, lovely art, humour and angst and drama... and great pacing, too. As for the plot, I'll quote from the "About" blurb on the website:

May 16, 2008 - In the span of a single day, Amal calls off his arranged marriage, comes out to his conservative parents, promptly gets disowned, goes on a bender... and wakes up the next morning to find TJ, a lanky, dreadlocked vagrant, frying eggs and singing Paul Simon in his kitchen.

TJ claims that the two have made a drunken pact to drive all the way from Berkeley to Providence. As it happens, Amal promised his sister he'd be there for her graduation from Brown University. And TJ, well... TJ has his own reasons.

The agreement is simple: Amal does the driving; TJ pays the way - but a 3500 mile journey leaves plenty of time for things to get complicated.

My second recommendation is another look at One Piece, the manga, from the beginning! This is a bit of a different angle to it than [personal profile] sara_tanaquil's ongoing re-read, which I still heartily recommend: [personal profile] we_are goes deep into themes and characterisation and relationships for each post. Warning: and unlike the former re-read series, we-are does so from the viewpoint of where the series is now (more or less), with spoilers in plain text, not hidden. Currently, we-are just concluded the Kuro arc, and I'm sure the Baratie arc will follow very soon, as we've had updates practically every day lately. This is lovely, meaty stuff, so if you're into meta on One Piece, don't hesitate to dig in! Comments are very welcome too. The master list with links to all the posts so far is here.

[profile] bluewalk has written and posted a fic to me!! :DD As I remember, I thought of Skypiea when she asked for prompts and particularly Raki, and she gave me a lovely story on Raki's background, and to some extent her whole generation of Shandians: intense, thoughtful stuff.

Sample lines:

Still, it's better not to risk it. Pity is a fast-acting poison, and kindness as well--it blunts your sharp edges, makes you soft. More of her mother's words to swallow, and they settle like stones in her gut.

The story is called small gods and can be found here (Livejournal) and here(AO3)!

I picked up a fun icons meme from [personal profile] sara_tanaquil! I did this once before, but I wanted to try again - and happily five different icons were picked from the first time.

Meme rules:

1. Reply to this post and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

Behind the cut are the ones [personal profile] sara_tanaquil picked for me, with my comments!

Happy Birthday, [personal profile] thewordweaves!

I wrote a birthday shortfic for you. I'm afraid it's unedited at this point, and probably a lot longer than it needs to be (especially since very little actually happens). Lightly Sanji/Usopp though probably more gen than not, set some unspecified post-timeskip time. PG for language, I guess.

I don't have a title for it yet either )
printfogey: (sanji hmm)
Cold Dish by [profile] maldoror_gw is a darkish fic showing the crew struck by loss, trying to recuperate and plotting for revenge. Rated PG-13 for language and violence. A two-parter, link goes to part 1; there's a direct link to part 2 at the end. Stark and tense, all in Sanji's POV, but with a lot of emotions all the same.

I'll quote from the Author's Notes:"(...)Consider it an alternate timeline where it wasn't Garp who showed up on Water 7 after Enies Lobby had been won...

This fic is grimmer than I usually write 'em, though it won't be obvious why until a quarter of the way through. That being said, before you wonder why I didn't put more warnings on this...remember the First Rule of One Piece!
printfogey: Luffy and Usopp leaning on each other while asleep (luuso snore)
Foolish by [personal profile] chibi_trillian is a sweet 375-word ficlet, rated PG-15 for implications. Author's summary is "Usopp thinks too goddamn much". Set at an unspecified time, but likely pre-water 7. The prose might be a little purple at the start, but it's a good read all the same in my opinion (this is my favourite couple, though, which might affect my judgment ^_^).

Usopp worried constantly; it was part of his nature. His mind saw situations and immediately started looking for possible dangers, things to flee and hide from. This arrangement wasn’t precisely dangerous, but it wasn’t safe either. His heart said one thing, his head another, and his gut something else entirely.
printfogey: Nami attacks Calipha (weather witch)
Under A Different Moon by [personal profile] naye is an AU of an AU! To quote from the author's notes: "It is a what-if in a what-if - the Une!verse is asking what it would be like if Portgas D. Rouge had had a daughter instead of a son. And here the question was - what if Kuina, not Zoro, was the one to set out in the world, carrying both their legacy?

And what if they met?"

Well, then you get this intriguing fic, drinking sake on a night in East Blue on a floating restaurant...

I just wish there could be more of this continuity!
printfogey: Ukyo from Ranma 1/2, playing the flute (ukyo_flöjt)
I just posted a two-part fic to Archive of Our Own that was originally done for one of [personal profile] naye's glorious chaos threads. Its new name is A Solid Place To Stand: it's about trusting and being trusted, from Usopp's and Robin's POV (pre-Alabasta and end of Skypiea, respectively). I've polished it up a bit. Concrit very welcome.
printfogey: Picture of Argentinian cartoon character Mafalda (Default)
Someone prompted me in an anonymous space to write about Garp and young Ace, Luffy or Sabo. I wrote this shortfic from Sabo's POV and then couldn't think of a title. De-anoning and reposting it here now anyway. (The only ones I can think of are things like "Into the Bargain" (sounds not entirely gen, somehow) and "I've Inherited *What*?!") Edit: Okay, got a title now.

Title: Comes With The Territory
Word count: around 850
Spoilers/setting: Set during the time shown in chapter 585
Characters: Sabo, Garp, Ace, Luffy
Rating: G
Concrit: Most welcome

Disclaimer: These characters and their world belong to their creator Eiichiro Oda. They are used here without permission for entertainment purposes only. This fic is not to be used for profit in any way and should not be reposted elsewhere without the writer's approval.

Reposting something (with slight revising) that I put on Tumblr yesterday - about why I am still so darn fond of the fight between Usopp and Perona in Thriller Bark.

This fic was originally written for [personal profile] prpl_pen on her birthday and posted then but filtered to her alone, since I wanted to tinker with it a bit more. Now it gets (re-)posted in public with just a few polishes.

Nitpicks and other concrit extremely welcome, as is of course any other feedback. It's okay to be harsh!

I posted a rambling Plurk about this yesterday, then thought it would be cool to hear my f-list's thoughts about this, too, should anyone be interested in sharing.

I was having some vague thoughts about common fan speculations about the future of One Piece, and that led to thinking about how Oda tends to write child characters, and that led to more general ponderings about how a "true pirate" should act according to Luffy. (And probably also according to Shanks, Gol D. Roger, Whitebeard and perhaps other non-evil pirates in the story.)
